An armed standoff at a home in central New York has ended with an 81-year-old man being taken into custody.
The standoff ended late Monday morning, about nine hours after the Oneida County Sheriff's Office said police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a home of 81 year old Garth Brink in Oneida Castle. Officials say Brink had been threatening to harm himself and a woman inside the home. Police say the woman was able to get out of the house safely.
Police say Brink had a long gun and fired one shot out his window at one point. State police negotiated with the man for several hours.
Police at the scene also arrested Brink's son. 52 year old Steven Brink was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest after police say he tried to push past officers at the scene and approached the residence.
The elder Brink is being held on 50 thousand dollars bail and has been charged with Reckless Endangerment for discharging a 12 gauge shotgun.
No one was injured in the incident
