Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh has released new details into a shooting last night that left a Town of Onondaga man dead after police were forced to fire thier weapons.
The Sheriff says officers were called to a domestic disturbance on Aitchison Road and spotted 57 year old Michael Sica sitting in a car in a driveway. Sica quickly moved to a nearby building and police claim he fired a shot at officers.
The officer involved called for backup and Sica thee claim, was lying in wait in the garage-type building and pointed a pistol at the deputies as they entered the building and the officers then shot at Sica.
Sica was pronounced dead at the scene and the two deputies who fired the shots have been placed on administrative leave.
A grand jury will now investigate the shooting to determine whether the deputies were justified in using deadly force.
Sica lived with his elderly parents at the time after recently separating from his wife.
