Three local-area businesses involved in dairy and yogurt production will be receiving low-cost power from the New York Power Authority.
The authority provided electricity under the state's ReCharge program, allowing business who agree to retain or create jobs to buy low-cost power. Lysander-based Agrana Fruit US will get 910 kilowatts for its $49.6 million plant employing 120 workers to process fruit for yogurt makers. Byrne Dairy gets 1,400 kilowatts for their $20 million Greek yogurt production plant in Cortlandville, which will employ up to 60 people. Ultra Dairy LLC, a Byrne Dairy division, will also get 1,400 kilowatts for a $27.5 million expansion of its dairy plant in Dewitt, which will add 35 jobs.
