Syracuse police arrested a man armed with a stolen handgun who had an outstanding warrant, thanks to a citizen complaint about him.
Police say 911 received a call about someone with a handgun on Cannon Street Near Brighton Avenue. The officer responding says he spotted 24-year-old Javiel Simpson of Syracuse, who he said had an outstanding warrant. The suspect fled on foot, but was taken into custody by the officer with help from an Onondaga County Sheriff's deputy. Simpson had a loaded .45 caliber handgun which had been reported stolen. He was charged with several felonies. The suspect was taken to the Justice Center to await arraignment.
