TV Shows and Movies That Were Filmed in Upstate NY in 2018

This year Upstate New York saw many celebrities out and about due to tv shows and movie filming. Here's a recap of a few TV shows and movies where you may recognize some scenery. 

'A Quiet Place'

This horror movie starred John Krasinski and his wife Emily Blunt. It was filmed in multiple places throughout Upstate New York.  This movie was also one of the top 20 grossing movies of this year. 

'Escape at Dannemora'

This Showtime series is based off of a prison escape in 2015 from Clinton Correctional Facility located in Dannemora, New York. This TV series is based off of a true event, directed by Ben Stiller, and stars Benicio del Toro, Paul Dano, and Patricia Arquette as the escaped prisoners and facility worker.The first episode premiered in November and airs on Sundays at 10 p.m.

'Big Time Adolescence'

This Sundance Film Festival movie stars many big named celebrities and was filmed around Syracuse this summer. Which led to many sightings of the "Saturday Night Live" star, Pete Davidson (and his then fiancée, Ariana Grande). The film also includes Griffin Gluck ("American Vandal"), Colson Baker (AKA rapper Machine Gun Kelly), Jon Cryer ("Two and a Half Men"), and Sydney Sweeney ("The Handmaid's Tale"). 'Big Time Adolescence' will premiere in January. 

Marvel's 'The Punisher'

This new Netflix series was stars John Bernthal, of the "Walking Dead" and filmed in Albany for part of season 2. This action packed Marvel series had warned the Albany area residents that they would be filming scenes involving, loud car crashes, simulated gunfire, stunts and a much more. Season 2 of "The Punisher" will be available for streaming in January.
