About Becky Palmer:
I live in a 100 year old home in Erieville.  I am a single Mom with three beautiful children.  My oldest, Darian and his wife Erin are close by and have a new home in Minoa. I am a new Grandmother to a little girl named Morgan. She was born in August, 2007.  My daughter Alana, is a Math teacher in the Syracuse School district.  My little Tucker is still at home and is in the sixth grade this year.  They are all country music fans. I have been in radio for many years and in fact, my mother was a radio personality.  I guess that is where I get it from.  I get a real kick out of doing charity work and attend many of the events here in CNY.
I would have to agree with Ron that the CMA win was also the high point in my career.  It just doesn't get any better than that and it is thanks to you who listen to us and support us each and every morning.  It wouldn't have happened without you.  In my mind, it was a win for Central New York.

Week of August 25
Wednesday 08-27-2008 9:04am ET

August 27 -  Well we took the "Best Application of Beef" award yesterday in the Beef Cook-off at the fair.  It wasn't first place...we are still trying to figure out what this means...but we sure had a good time cooking with all the other media personalities.  I am loving the fair.  It is just so nice to see everybody.  Thursday, Tom and I are doing the backstage broadcast for the Toby Keith show.  Bring a jacket to the concert...as there are sprinkles in the forecast. - Becky

August 26 -  The Brooks & Dunn show was last night and Tom Owens is paying for it this morning. He was hollering along with the band and he has lost his voice this morning.  He also stayed up until midnight!  What a trooper though.  I will give him credit.  He still wants to party like a kid...and still shows up to work in the wee hours.  He will learn his lesson...I think.  I stayed for Brooks & Dunn.  I actually thought it was a more scaled down show than when B&D headline the tour.  At the lastl minute the promoter switched and B&D were the second act on...not the late night headliner.  That worked out well for me, so I could see the boys.  I just couldn't stay up for ZZ Topp.  Tom said they were great!  Today is the Beef Cook-off at the fair.  Wish us luck.  We are defending our championship title from last year.  We are making Margaritta Beef Kabobs.  Anyhow, we we will eat well.  -  Becky

Week of August 18

August 22- Tom is back!  It is starting to feel normal again.  It is certainly a lot of fun working with him.  He is such a great friend.  I am off to the fair today with my son.  Saturday I am off to Geneva to check out Extreme Home Makeover's build that is going on.  Sunday, my niece is having a birthday party.  Should be a fun week-end. - Becky

AUGUST 21 - YEAH! The NYS Fair is open.  I stopped by yesterday and the new changes look great.  I can't wait to go this week-end and check it all out.  I spoke with the Director this morning, Dan Ohara and he is pretty excited about what has been done.  It seems like a "greener" New York fair this year.  I bet you will like it.  Tom Owens is definately returning from Florida Friday.  I had him on the air this morning and he is anxious to get home.  He has had enough of the heavy rains.  One more day for you to try and win the big Toby package...good luck! - Becky
--------------------------------------------------------------------
August 20 -  Wednesday....The fair is open tomarrow...I stopped by yesterday to pick up some press materials, but they were in a state of confusion.  Perhaps I will try again today.  We will be in full gear for the fair.  Tom and I will be doing all the backstage broadcasts for the country shows. That is always fun.  I can't wait. - Becky
--------------------------------------------------------------------
August 19 -  I just got off the phone with Tom Owens and he is stuck in Florida. He thinks he won't be back until Friday.  It is amazing how much I already miss his fun and humor in the morning.  How quickly we have become good friends.  His winter home in Florida survived the storm, but he can't get a flight out until Thursday.  Amber says she will be coming in again tomarrow.  She can keep me company!  I am zuchinnied out.  It is quite overwhelming.  It is too bad you can't build a house...I have enough of the green stuff to do it.  - Becky

August 18 -  Well, here I am back at work after my last vacation of the year.  You know what?  I feel good about it.  I am so lucky to have a job that I really, really love.  How many people can say that?  I did have a really great vacation.  I took a course at OCC.  It was a motorcycle course, and I had a blast!  How much fun was that?  It was awesome.  I really encourage anyone who ever thought they wanted to get into biking to take the course first.  You certainly will spend a week-end full of riding and classes.  It was great.  Make sure to listen up this week for your chance to win an incredible package for the Toby Kieth show at the NYS Fair.  It includes a pretty special package of a backstage party with the bands that are tour with Toby at the "Thirsty Monkey" lounge from his movie "Beer for my Horses".  Toby will even stop by.  You have to be listening to win.  Good luck! - Becky
Week of August 4th

August 8 -  Friday! Friday! Friday! It's here.  Hope to see you Saturday at Onieda Shores.  My granddaughter Morgan turns a year old Sunday...I am going to her birthday party.  Then it's a week off for me.  The last one until Christmas.  I am going to chill out.  Have a great week! - Becky
-------------------------------------------------------------------
August 7 -  Yeah!  Thursday.  One day closer to my last vacation of the year.  I can't wait.  No big plans for this coming week, except I have a lot of catching up to do with chores around the house.  I am almost all done stacking my winter wood. I just got the garage cleaned...it is just a busy time...we will be out at the fair so much, that I better get it done before then.  Tom, Dave and I are going to the Syracuse Chamber of Commerce clambake tonight.  Should be fun.  - Becky
--------------------------------------------------------------------
August 6 -  Busy week....today I am headed out to the Empire Farm Days in Seneca Falls.  I love that event.  I swear it is as big as the NYS Fair and it is all farm equipment.  We are gearing up for A Day in the Country this Saturday at Onieda Shores as part of the Bassmasters tournament.  I can't wait to see Heartland.  They are a pretty incredible band. And it's free!!!!!!  Worked some more on my wood yesterday....I am getting pretty tired of it!!! I am getting through it though and I will be ready for winter.  What?  Did I say winter?  - Becky
--------------------------------------------------------------------
August 5 -  Tuesday already.  Work continues on the bathroom that I am having remodeled at my house.  I am so discouraged with it.  I just want it to be over.  It is so messy getting work done like that.  I had 15 cords of wood delivered over the week-end, so I am sure you can guess what I have been doing.  I don't even think I am halfway stacking it yet.  This Sunday is my granddaughters first birthday. Has it really been a year already since she came into my life?  She is such a joy to me.  She has got the cutest way of kissing.  It's all mouth, all over your cheek.  I just love it.  We had a nice event happen this morning.  We got word that Ron Bee has been nominated for the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville.  We called him and told him the news.  He was all teared up.  He is so honored. Way to go guy! - Becky
