Well I hope everyone made it through Thanksgiving without gaining too much around the waist line. I also hope you had the chance to get together with your families and friends to eat good food and say thanks for what ever you have to say thanks for. At the Bee House it was kind of a subdued Thanksgiving Holiday this year. Jon came home from SUNY Oswego on schedule and we were looking forward to cooking up the 'bird' and sharing a delicious meal that Mom always puts together. But then came the news that Jenni-Lyn Watson was missing. Jenni was a high school friend of Jon's and it really struck home for him. We've seen these kind of stories on the news before....but for Jon they've never hit as hard as this time. He didn't know what to do to help. But then after reading all the entries on 'Facebook'..he realized there was a better way to get the information out without having to put up with all the strange entries that some people just can't help to put on Facebook. So Jon started a web sight. He spent his own money and purchased a domain from Microsoft and then loaded it with all the pictures he had of Jenni, and the news stories from local media sources and whatever else he could come up with. He asked me about everything and I only asked that he made sure that everything was accurate and not gossip. That he did. The sight became so good that he started getting calls from National media sights and was doing interviews. Although he didn't want to, the family wanted to get Jenni's picture out there and that is what Jon was accomplishing. Little did we know she was already gone. Needless to say he was devestated and now has changed the sight to a memorial (
www.rememberJennilynwatson.com). At her funeral, Jenni's Dad thanked Jon for his hard work and her Grandma gave him a big hug for his heart felt effort. He's a good kid and misses his friend. We only wish it could have ended differently. Now she is in Heaven and watching over us.
In other news the Christmas Holiday is coming upon us so quickly. Wow!! I was able to escape the whole 'Black Friday' thing by not leaving the house for one second. If you dared to go out...God Bless you. I hope you made out well. I also hope that all of you have a Merry Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year. May 2011 be a lot better than this year that we will soon be saying goodbye to!!
Well, till the next time....love you all and miss you....peace and love...Ron Bee.
Hello again my friends! Big Daddy here. Stopping by the land of 'BLOG' to wish you all well and hope that your autumn is off to a good start. I personally have hit a few bumps in the road so to speak. First of all school taxes came due! Ouch! Hard to come up with that kind of change when there is no change in your pocket. I'm sure many of you can relate to that. Especially thos of you who are unemployed like this old dog is. On top of that my legal situation continues to drag on and on and on. I'm wondering if it will ever end. It's just amazing how slow our legal system really it.
On a lighter note, had the chance to visit my good friends at Behlings Orchards up Mexico way. What a wonderful family and what a wonderful place to go pick apples and have family fun. I can't pick apples anymore...but my wife and son just love to drive up into the country and visit the store. There are bags of freshly picked apples already for you, plus pumpkins and all kinds of squash. Not to mention that little shack they have with the goodies including the apple fritters.....mmmmmm good!! And if you are into wine...they have that too...made right there.
How many of you can fix your computer when it breaks? Not too many. I'm one of you. This past week has been hell. First my wireless router wouldn't work and then I couldn't get online with my main computer. What a mess. Talking to all these tecky people long distance in India and the Philippines for hours. Nothing worked until all of a sudden the 'geek gene' inside of me came out and I fixed it myself. I was amazed. Even impressed my own son. Now I'm a hero in the world of 'Geekdom'! Go figure.
Well that's it for this time around. Enjoy your fall and keep listening to the number one station on my radio....B104.7....even if Becky is a little strange. Love and peace....Ron.
Hi every one!! Like a bad penny...Big Daddy has returned to BLOG land! I pulled some strings with the powers to be (namely Mr. Lauber) and found out the secret codes to get back into the Kingdom of B, so here I am again. I know, many of you thought I had bought the farm..kicked the bucket....went six feet under. Not to be! Actually I feel somewhat okay. I still have some serious problems including my voice, but for the most part not too bad. I look at it this way. As long as you wake up in the morning and you can put your feet on the ground and take a nice deep breath...things aren't all that bad.
I do hope you all had a great summer. I know many of you attended the New York State Fair. Was it just me or were there fewer country shows this year? The good thing was...the ones they did have were terrific. Lady A at Chevy Court (I hear, because I wasn't there) apparently rocked the place. Tim MaGraw and Rascal Flatts were outstanding as well. Too bad that the band that charged the most only drew 9 thousand people....what's with that?
My son Jon is back in college. It's his senior year and hopefully things will go well for him. It seems like he has a huge challenge each year. This year it's a professor who has an ego the size of Texas. He won't round off grades, give a perfect score, wants his homework done above others, etc. etc........where do these people come from. You are suppose to teach and help these students learn...not feed your ego.
By now you've heard that Tom and Becky have been nominated for a CMA award for best personalities in a medium market and that B104.7 has been nominated as the best Radio Station overall in a medium market. I know you will join me in congratulating Tom and Becky and Rich Lauber as well who guides the entire staff on this wonderful station. Hopefully they will bring home the bacon...or trophy in this case.
Well, I've shot off my mouth long enough this time. I will try to keep up with you guys on a regular basis now that I have gained control of the machine again. Till then make your life as enjoyable as you can...and as always...God Bless...Ron!
